Family Fishing Day 2007

With the generous support of the Union of Public Sector Employees (UPSE), the 2007 Family Fishing Day was held on Sunday, May 27th at the Rollo Bay Pond, located on Route 2 approximately 1 km west of the Rollo Bay Church. As in other years, no fishing licenses were equired to participate, and a free barbecue was offered by volunteers from the Souris Wildlife Branch and the UPSE.

In preparation for this year's event, the pond was stocked with 150 one-pound rainbow trout to provide the most enjoyable angling conditions. As in other years, the public's response to the 2007 Family Fishing Day was tremendous. Approximately 150 people of all ages attended to participate in this continuing tradition.

Fortunately, this year's instalment coincided with brilliant weather conditions, resulting in plenty of excited children, parents, and grandparents. The Souris Wildlife Branch wishes to thank to the numerous volunteers who generously donated their time and effort to make this event a success. UPSE deserves special recognition for both their financial support and their efforts in operating the free barbecue. This occasion is a prime example of the positive potential of community cooperation, with the ultimate result of a day of great family fun, great food, and great fishing.
