Reporting Environmental Emergencies

1-800-565-1633

The above number can be used to report an environmental emergency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. During regular working hours, you may also report an environmental emergency directly to the Department of Environment, Energy and Forestry office at 368-5000.

A member of the Environmental Emergency Response Team is on call 24 hours a day to respond to environmental emergencies. When an environmental emergency is reported after hours, the call will be answered by the Coast Guard Traffic Control Center in Dartmouth and relayed to the on-call person in P.E.I. It is very important that you leave a phone number where you may be reached when you report an environmental emergency. It may be necessary for staff to contact you to obtain more information.

The Environmental Emergency Response Team responds to environmental emergencies including, petroleum releases, pesticide and chemical spills, air quality incidents, and fish and other wildlife mortality incidents.
