Assistance - Education Souris does not stand alone in P.E.I. with the management and enhancement of watersheds. Members of the Souris & Area Branch of the P.E.I. Wildlife Federation speak and contribute on a regular basis to other groups across the province. Individuals are involved in various committees and attend many meetings with others in the run of a year. Souris & Area Branch is a charter member of the P.E.I. Watershed Alliance. The members are eager to share knowledge and interact with others for the betterment of all. Please view our photos and videos from various events, meetings and sessions the group has involved in. January 16, 2008 - Fred Cheverie visited Fredericton, New Brunwick and made a presentation to the E.C.S.W.C.C. January 17, 2008 - Fred Cheverie met in Charlottetown with his watershed counterpart from the Pisquid River, Soleil Hutchinson. September 12, 2008 - Fred Cheverie, Waldron Leard, Erica MacIsaac, Justin McKinnon and Barry Wilson attended and presented a display at the Eastern Kings Exhibition held at the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris. May 5, 2008 - Garry Gregory and Waldron Leard discussed a photo workshop to be held later in the month. June 2008 - Garry Gregory, Waldron Leard and Steve Cheverie displayed the new Wildlife calendar used for a fundraiser and as a form of education. August 2009 - Tim Brothers, Fred Cheverie, Waldron Leard, Chad Mooney and Barry Wilson attended and presented a display at the P.E.I. Plowing Match held at the fairgrounds in Dundas. September 2009 - Waldron Leard, Justin McKinnon, Luke Robichaud and Barry Wilson attended and presented a display at the Eastern Kings Exhibition held at the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris. January 20, 2010 - Waldron Leard met with Roddie Mitton of the Morell Watershed Group in Kingsboro regarding website development. This presentation began with a field trip to East Baltic Bog and concluded at Eastern Kings Consolidated School with a slideshow on the East Baltic Bog. Many thanks to their homeroom teacher Mariska terMeer for her invitation and fine organization. There are many other visits to classrooms over the course of each year. Presenters included Federation staff Fred Cheverie and Erica MacIsaac, as well as area farmers.
