Good News - Accentuating The Positive BY NANCY WILLIS The photo contest was an overwhelming success with 472 top-notch entries in four official categories, making the judging a very difficult process. "Fortunately, we had a panel of international judges who had no idea who any of the entrants were,'' said photographer Waldron Leard who presided over the event. The winners were announced at the recent launch if the Souris branch's new website www.souriswl.ca. Robertson's grand prize-winning picture was an exquisite look at a sandstone cliff face with the heads and necks of two graceful cormorants sticking out from their nesting hole in the red rock. Winners of the adult division were: Heather Ross of Fortune; Susan Leard, Kingsboro; and Susan Conners, St. Charles. Topping the university/college division were: Cathleen Gallant of Monticello; Jenna Francis, Fortune; and Laura O'Connor, Lower Rollo Bay. Paul Campbell, president of the Souris Wildlife Federation branch, said the contest was such a success that a new contest will begin on Jan. 1. All entries should be sent to Leard at wwhleard@ekpei.ca. All pictures appearing on this site or its associated flickr account are the property of the photographers and the Souris & Area Branch of the P.E.I. Wildlife Federation. |
