SOURIS — Members of the Souris branch of the P.E.I. Wildlife Federation have their pots a-boilin’ and ready to go for the annual wildlife dinner which is far and away one of the most fascinating dining experiences on Prince Edward Island.

This year’s fundraising event features roast buffalo by Chef Pedro Pereira and baked Atlantic salmon with all the trimmings. There will also be an incredible array of delicious wild animal delicacies, some of which diners may never have tasted before. Member Fred Cheverie reminds everyone that once again there will be a special mystery dish for those with exploratory taste buds.

The dinner and live auction takes place this weekend at St. Mary’s Hall in Souris on Sunday, Dec. 14 with hors d’oeuvres at 4 p.m. and dinner at 5.

The live auction will feature a variety of outdoor equipment as well as framed prints from the Atlantic Salmon Federation, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited and more.

Highlighting the evening will be awards to the winners of this year’s wildlife photo contest, organized by Waldron Leard, which had an astounding 1,486 entries. The photos were judged by an international panel of professional photographers from Mexico, Denmark and the United States.

"A slide show of the entries will be displayed prior to the meal illustrating the quality of photos submitted and the beauty of our area," said Cheverie.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Elliots General Store, Vernon D'eon Lobster Plugs, Burke's Custom Metal and the Souris Legion. They may also be obtained by calling Justin McKinnon at 687-2877 or any branch member.
