Canada Day Recognition Award

The Souris & Area Branch of the P.E.I. Wildlife Federation was awarded a Canada Day Recognition Award for Community Group of the Year on July 1, 2009. The citation reads:

Community Group of the Year Award:

This organization has a goal to protect and enhance the fish and wildlife habitat, watershed protection and restoration and to educate the general public on wildlife and environment issues. This organization was recognized provincially in 2006 when they won an award for being an organizational leader in conservation and was also recognized as the first and only organization on P.E.I. to develop a watershed plan that was endorsed by the community. This organization has spent time preparing and delivering talks and slide shows to students with in the Souris family of schools to educate about the local ecology. They are a wonderful organization that will go that extra mile to make a difference in our Town and surrounding communities. We the Town of Souris and Residents would like to present the Community Group of the Year Award to:
